A New Hope for Frontline Workers with Digital Enablement

June 22, 2022, Tech One Philippines and Microsoft organized a webinar entitled “Empowering Frontline Workers through Digital Enablement.” MiHCM and Enadoc also joined as critical resources for the webinar. The session focused on the following:

  1. The challenges around frontline workers in terms of Human Resources, Communications, and Operations
  2. Ways to boost frontline workers’ morale to inclusivity
  1. The effects of empowering your frontline workers on your whole organization’s success
  1. Modern work solutions that could solve these problems

Around 120 people signed up, who are mixed of company executives to frontline workers themselves, coming from different industries like Manufacturing, Banking, and BPO.

Mimi Navarro, Global Marketing Operations Manager of Tech One Global, hosted a webinar alongside Lahiru Munindadrasa, Managing Director of Tech One Philippines, who moderated the first half of the session with a Fireside chat.

Vett Watson, Modern Work & Security Business Lead of Microsoft Philippines; Wasantha Weerakone, COO and co-founder of Tech One Global; Harsha Purasinghe, CEO, and co-founder of MiHCM, were the panelists for the Fireside Chat.

“We’ve seen in the Philippines specifically that our frontline workers are hungry for better tools, ready to adapt to serve their customers better. And when equipped, we’ve seen companies see tangible results.” – Vette Watson, when asked how tech companies like Tech One, Microsoft, and MiHCM see frontline workers’ taking part in digital transformation.

Harsha Purasinghe, on the other hand, pointed out that frontline workers are usually overlooked in digital transformation, most notably in strategizing employee experience. It results in frontline workers adapting to unsecure ad-hoc point solutions like WhatsApp and Telegram, which could also lead to unwanted corporate disasters in the future.

In addition, Wasantha Weerakone explained that empowering frontline workers, who are the edge of the organization’s fabric, is key to the survival and success of the company. As an example, he cited how Tech One Global employees are empowered, where employees are encouraged to embrace the “Boss” Concept and use modern work solutions like Microsoft Teams, MiHCM, and Enadoc.

Key resource speakers presented modern work solutions for the second part of the session. First, Jeremy Derick Cruz, Cloud consultant for hybrid work and security of Tech One, discussed Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Security. Next, Umidu Silva, solution architect of Tech One, presented the different facets of Microsoft Viva. Lastly, Hiranya Jayaweera, Assistant Manager for SMB (Small to Medium Business) Business of MiHCM, discussed how MiHCM could help HR (Human Resources) Departments improve their processes.

The start of acknowledging neglected problems for the past years around frontline workers opens the doors for a better future for the empowerment of every industry’s leading brand ambassador.
