A Human Resources Department is one of the most vital departments in any company. It covers many functions of people management, like recruitment, compensation and benefits, training, and employment regulatory compliance, to name the most common ones.
However, despite these numerous functions, HR Departments are usually understaffed, and they need more time for other things to improve their services to their institutions. Even having the most skilled HR personnel couldn’t cover all these functions if they are the only ones doing these to serve all the people in the company. So, how could we address this? Last December 1, 2022, Tech One Philippines, Microsoft, MiHCM, and Evia organized an onsite event of the year entitled “Regaining your time for Improving HR: Accomplish your HR processes and documentations in minutes.” at the Microsoft Philippines office in One Ayala, Makati. The session’s main points were the following:
- Show how documentations and other HR processes take the most significant workloads of HR practitioners
- Learn how HR departments’ improvement is affected by this problem
- Learn how other companies have already coped with this problem to focus on other things that matter more
- Know the latest work solutions that HR Departments could utilize to streamline and improve their processes
The event started with a keynote speech from Tech One Global PH’s managing director, Lahiru Munindradasa. He also discussed how digital transformation is a “must” for HR Departments to improve and overcome documentation issues. It was followed by the Fireside Chat, moderated by Tech One Global PH’s People and Culture Manager, Nikkie Dela Cruz. The Fireside Chat panelists were a transformation enabler and people analytics champion, Eric Riego de Dios; Learning and Development Head, Lawrence Co; and MiHCM’s general manager for business operations, Pubudini Abeyesekera, who flew from Sri Lanka to join the session. The Fireside Chat focused on the challenges of HR Departments and how digital transformation helped HR professionals to reach their goals.
The second half of the session showed the latest solutions that HR professionals could utilize to address the problems they have discussed in the Fireside Chat:
- MiHCM’s general manager for business operations, Pubudini Abeyesekera, discussed MiHCM, which could be used for many HR processes like employee scheduling, employee leaves, payroll, and more.
- Francis De Leon, Tech One Global PH’s account manager for SMB, showcased Enadoc Evia Sign, which showed how digital signatures could be made easy anywhere the signatories may be.
- The Applications Architect Manager of Tech One Global, Umidu Silva, discussed what Microsoft Viva is and how it could help HR Departments improve employee engagement.
The attendees were very interactive, especially during the Q&A portion, where they also shared their own experiences and problems in HR that the speakers were able to address.
