August 25, 2022, Tech One Global, Microsoft, MiHCM, and Enadoc worked together to organize an onsite event for HR professionals and executives entitled “Preparing HR to be Global Recession Ready: HR Digital Transformation Amidst Economic Crisis.” The event was held at the Microsoft office in One Ayala, Makati, and attended by HR professionals from different industries.
Rationale
Recent global events have significantly impacted all industries around the world. Across these industries, Human Resources or People Management has played a vital role in each company to continue working efficiently despite the effects of the recession.
The recession affects all businesses — prices are getting high, business expansion is more challenging, and the employment rate is declining. Each one involves the other two. So, Human Resources Departments must make big decisions to empower their workforce and prepare their organizations for the dangers of the recession. The evident answer for the past years for these challenges has always been digital transformation.
Fireside Chat
The Fireside Chat moderator was Tech One Global’s CEO and Co-founder, Lars Jeppesen. The panelists were Jan Tanchi, SHRM-SCP, Sr. HR Manager of Microsoft APAC; Rey Lugtu, Founder and CEO of Hungry Workhorse; Harsha Purashinghe, CEO and Co-founder of MiHCM; Christine Dyan Labanda, Chief People Officer of QuadX Inc.; and Faith Bautista, General Manager for Human Resources and General Affairs of Terumo Philippines Corporation.
The Fireside Chat focused on the obstacles of HR professionals during the challenging times of the economy. Like retaining employee engagement, showing how the industry leaders managed to cope with the challenges for their organizations, and explaining why upskilling and reskilling the workforce with digital transformation could give more benefits to organizations.

After the Fireside Chat, modern work solutions for HR were presented to address the issues discussed.
