HILTON HOTEL, SRI LANKA, JANUARY 31, 2019 – Tech One Sanje, in partnership with Microsoft Sri Lanka and MiHCM (previously known as Microimage) kicked off digital transformation to HR professionals though an event called Deliver Digital Transformation to HR. This dinner event is an avenue for tackling the current trends in workforce management and how digital transformation can reshape the daily HR practices happening across industries.
Over 100 participants composed of CXOs and HR professionals attended to gain data-driven insights and understand more the digital transformation happening in the human resources sector.
Providing the relevant insights is a powerhouse of experts composed of industry leaders from Tech One Sanje, Microsoft Sri Lanka, and Mi HCM.
Mr. Hasitha Abeywardane, Country Head of Microsoft Sri Lanka and one of the keynote speakers, points out that what we see today in the current landscape of HR will no longer exist in the coming years because of the rise of AI and data analytics. “We need to think of the value of HR. I see in the future, in 5 to 10 years, the HR department will not exist. It will become a consulting function; consulting and coaching leaders,” he adds.
To build a resilient set of HR professionals and a pool of modern workforce, innovation and digitization are the two essentials every organization must take into account. Mr. Harsha Purashinghe, CEO/Director of MiHCM and one of the speakers, highly upholds these essentials for an organization flourish in the future. “Businesses reinvent themselves for the emergence of the new workforce… Times have changed, you have to go to people. Hiring people is not easy,” he emphasized.
Mr. Wasantha Weerakoone, CCO at Tech One Global, sees a more important opportunity in going digital for the HR. He stated that 80% of HR activities can happen digitally and would be more efficient without the use of paper files. “If people start digitally communicating and becoming digitally certified and digitally driven, there’s no need for a document to be reprinted for sharing. If you can stop this, your organization will become more efficient and you will keep the world for your children by saving trees.”
The presentations were then followed by an open forum. Mr. Rohan Manasseh, Senior HR Manager of NDB Bank, shares his thoughts about the digital transformation happening to HR: “Today we talk about predictive analysis & gone are the days that you need an HR department, everybody should be an HR manager from whichever platforms they perform from.”
