Tech One Global and Microsoft jointly organized an event entitled “BANGLADESH CISO SPEAKS ROUNDTABLE: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?” It was an evening event presentation and panel discussion held at Ball Room, The Westin Dhaka, on the 23rd of February 2022.
A global crisis like COVID-19 has transformed day-to-day life and the enterprise operating model. Working remotely on a massive scale is bringing new security challenges to organizations. CISOs are now much more likely to be held accountable for tackling those challenges to ensure uninterrupted business processes for bringing out the most economic value in the current environment. The event tackled the effects of cyber security challenges in the financial sector during the pandemic and how businesses can harness their full potential by revolutionizing business operations through cutting-edge security solutions.
The event started with Tech One Global’s General Manager, Mr. Humaun Kabir, delivering the welcome address, followed by an insightful session on accelerating zero trust security by Ms. Jannatul Fardous Popy, Partner Technology Specialist of Microsoft Bangladesh.
The event continued and reached its climax with an engaging panel discussion on BANGLADESH CISO SPEAKS ROUNDTABLE: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Moderated by Md. Yousup Faruqu, Managing Director, Microsoft Bangladesh, and the honorable panelist Mr. AKM Nazmul Karim, EVP & HoD, IT Governance, Product & Technology-bKash Limited, Mr. Sk. Shakil Ahmed, Chief IT Infrastructure & Security Officer -Nagad Limited, Md. Mahbubul Alam Rafel, SAVP, Head of Information Security Division-Prime Bank Limited.
The panel discussion carried out the current security challenges of the financial sectors and recommended strategies for these priority areas; Technology architectures are shifting in multiple ways due to business needs and building a solid security practice in IT operations. Attackers are increasingly adept at navigating all layers of the stack with credential theft in SaaS applications and a line of business applications, so real-time intelligence with monitoring and detailed verification is needed to prevent threats like zero-day. Additionally, the panelists have emphasized the importance of the uniformity of the industry concerning security adaptability. Suggested that if everyone drives towards a single vision to embrace proactive data security, it will help change the industry’s legacy mindset to enable a cultured and secure workplace.
Such aspirations also present challenges in adopting new technology by governing policies, and governing procedures would be encouraged to create the flexibility for the industry to achieve its cybersecurity goals. This flexibility, in turn, may open new doors for economic growth and stability for the industry.
