A New Perspective in Reinventing Business in the Cloud

Work from anywhere and the ability to remotely communicate and collaborate remains business critical worldwide. A Microsoft survey showed that 80% of customers intend to accelerate their digital transformation and 60% indicate security and compliance budgets have gone up to better defend customers’ infrastructures in these remote or hybrid work scenarios. The numbers show how digital transformation and security correlate to the aim for success. With this, businesses are seeing the more in-depth importance of Cloud computing

Today, small, and medium-sized companies are turning to the Cloud to run critical aspects of their businesses, like applications and databases. Moving these workloads into the Cloud—or running them in hybrid environments—can take a real burden off managing them in-house.

Last September 28, 2022, Tech One Philippines and Microsoft organized a webinar entitled “Reinvent Business in the Cloud: Move Your Apps to the Cloud | Improve Cyber Security | Build on Your Terms | Save Cost.” The session discussed the following:

  • What the latest trends in Cloud computing are
  • How Microsoft Azure could help businesses achieve their goals with the freedom and flexibility to build, manage, and deploy their applications anywhere.
  • How managements could secure their business in the Cloud and why Microsoft Azure is the number 1 trusted cloud provider
  • How Azure Virtual Desktop and Lift and Shift could help businesses jumpstarting their cloud migration

Barbra Ann Garcia, Azure Business Group Lead at Microsoft Philippines, presented the different advantages of the Cloud, especially in using Microsoft Azure. “Organizations that had already begun their digital transformation journey felt better equipped to respond to unpredictable change.”

She closed her presentation with how businesses could prepare themselves for migrating to the Cloud.

“There’s always a hesitation for migrating into the Cloud, and we don’t want you to just to the Cloud without really understanding the objective of the entire organization. It must be aligned with everyone – from HR to Finance to Engineering – all of you should be aligned.”

Barbra Ann Garcia is a Strategic Leader for the Azure Business in the Philippines. She covers the Intelligent Cloud Apps, & Infra, Data & AI, and AI Solution Areas, with end-to-end accountability for the Azure Business, including Strategy, Planning, Execution, Advocacy Governance, learning, and Go-to-market plans for the subsidiary.
